Because Costa Rica sits between 11 and 8 degrees above the equator, it does not really have a winter. Costa Rica has two seasons. Between late December and April Costa Rica weather is dry. The rest of the year, Costa Rica has what they call the wet season or green season.

The weather in Costa Rica has very little variance in temperature throughout the year. Temperature varies mostly according to elevation, the higher the cooler.

As a result of its humidity, the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica stays green for the entire year, and doesn't have the extended dry weather.

Like anywhere, when coming and traveling you need to take into account Costa Rica weather. Bring linens and lightweight cottons for most of the year, and bring warmer clothes for the cooler evenings. Waterproofing is needed during the rainy season.
